The Bizonomics Society organised its Annual Business Conclave on May 18th, 2024. The Conclave was presided over by the Chief Guest Col Vijay Chaddha, Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Principal Dr Vijay Datta, in the presence of the Headmistress, Senior Block, Ms Anuradha Bahl, former Headmistress Ms Jaya Khurana and Headmistress, Middle Block, Manpreet Kaur.

The event had a string of activities like the Business Pitch competition, where the students presented innovative business ideas. In the Ad Acting event, students created advertisements to generate business. The Corporate Legal Battle simulated a trial scenario with the students assuming roles as corporate lawyers. The Logomania event tested the design skills and brand awareness of the students. The Business Quiz featured rapid-fire rounds to assess the business knowledge of the participants. The Mock Stocks activity allowed the participants to experience the thrill and challenges of stock market trading.

Surprise activities for spectators added spontaneity and fun, enhancing the overall experience. The event was judged by the Alumni who had been the former position holders of the Bizonomics Society. Their constructive feedback provided valuable insights to the participants for improvement.

The students of Class 12 played an active role in planning and execution of the activities. The event also provided a platform to the students of Class 11 to showcase their insight in various business and economics domains.

This conclave was a testament to the potential and talent of the students, preparing them for future endeavours in the world of business.

Riverdale Country School, USA Exchange Programme
Fostering Global Friendship and Academic Success

From May 27th to June 6th, 2024, eleven students from Modern School, Barakhamba Road participated in a prestigious ten days’ exchange programme with Riverdale Country School in New York City. The programme aimed to foster cultural exchange, knowledge-sharing, and lifelong friendships between Riverdale Country School in the USA and Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

During their stay with the host families, the students immersed themselves in the local culture and everyday life. They attended classes at Riverdale, gaining an insight into the American educational system. The programme included a comprehensive tour of the Riverdale campus, highlighting its state-of-the-art facilities, and active participation in various subjects alongside their American counterparts.

The exchange programme was further enriched by an intensive study of the region’s flora and fauna during a trip to the Bronx Zoo. Visits to the iconic New York City landmarks, such as the Empire State Building and the Times Square, gave them a fair idea about the city’s culture. Additionally, exploring the structure of the Temple of Dendur and viewing the magnificent painting of Washington crossing the Delaware at the Metropolitan Museum of Art allowed the students to delve into the 5000-year-old history of the region. They also attended a Harry Potter Broadway show, enhancing their appreciation for the performing arts.

During their exchange programme, the students embarked on a side trip to Washington, D.C., which added an extra layer of depth to their educational journey. They visited significant landmarks, including the White House, the Washington Memorial, the World War I Memorial, and the Museum of National History. These excursions not only provided invaluable insights into American history, politics, and cultural heritage but also facilitated a comparative study between the urban design of New Delhi and Washington.

Overall, this exchange programme broadened the students’ academic and cultural perspectives, strengthening their global citizenship. The friendships and knowledge gained during this experience will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their educational journey.

Students excel in Diplomacy and Debate

The Sanskriti Model United Nations, held in New Delhi from April 15th to 17th, 2024 saw participation from more than 250 delegates from approximately 25 schools across India and Nepal. Over the course of the three days’ event, the students from Modern School Barakhamba Road showcased exceptional skills, earning them the esteemed Best Delegation Award. Under the guidance of Ms Sonia Kapoor, MUN Society In charge at Modern School, 11 out of the 16 participating students received individual awards.

Galloping to Glory: Charting Equestrian Success

Amartya Aggarwal and Agastya Aggarwal of Class 11 secured the 3rd and 4th positions respectively in the Under-16 Show Jumping event at the German National Equestrian Championship, organised by German International Equestrian. They are the first Indian players to ever compete in the German Nationals.

The Department of Career Counselling at Modern School commenced the new session 2024-2025 by acquainting the students with the university admission procedures, both in India and abroad. Representatives from the University of Southern California, UIUC, Nebraska, Iowa, MSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, University of Maryland, Rutgers, and University of Wisconsin conducted an informative session, covering campus details, locations, admission processes, and scholarships.

Additionally, a one-hour session was organised for Class 12 students from the top five Indian private universities: Ashoka University, Plaksha University, Shiv Nadar University, KREA, and Fashion & Design Studio. During this interactive session, college representatives addressed queries about offered courses and application processes for these universities. All relevant information, including e-brochures and prospectuses, has been uploaded on the MS Teams platform by the Career Counselling Team for 2024-2025.
