Modern School bags All India Under-19 IPSC Basketball Championship
May 20 — The 4 day sporting carnival of All India IPSC Boys Under-19 Championship at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi concluded with fanfare and flourish. Modern School, the hosts won the final in flair against Motilal Nehru School of Sports outsmarting them by 101-78 in the final of the two giants of the game today. Modern School has done it the fifth year in a row.
Pramod Sharma, Director of Genesis Global School was the chief guest. The guest of honour was Dr DR Saini, Principal, Delhi Public School, RK Puram. Dr Vijay Datta, Principal Modern School, congratulated all the participants and stated that the game was played in true sportsman spirit. He said, “Modern School has been the torchbearer so far as the IPSC sports scenario is concerned.” Being a keen sports enthusiast himself, he implored the youngsters to be sports friendly for overall success in life.
Sunil Rathee of Modern School was declared as the player of the tournament while Sujit of Motilal Nehru School of Sports was awarded for scoring the maximum points in the entire tournament. Most promising player of the tournament was Sanat of Modern while the find of the championship was Hansraj Hooda, also from Modern School.
The participating schools included — DPS RK Puram (Delhi), Mayo College (Ajmer), DPS Mathura Road (Delhi), LK Singhania (Gotan), Mann Public School (Delhi), Motilal Nehru School of Sports (Rai), Pinegrove (Dharampur), Punjab Public School (Nabha), Lawrence School (Sanawar), Emerald Heights (Indore), Assam Valley (Guwahati), YPS (Patiala) and Modern School (Delhi).
