The much awaited Annual Sports Day of our school was held on Saturday, 8th December 2018 with great zeal and excitement. The chief guest of the occasion was the renowned Olympian and Padma Shri awardee Mr. Vijender Singh and the Guest of Honour was Mrs Rekha Yadav, Executive Director Sports, Ministry of Railways and Secretary, Railway Sports Promotion board. The event was graced with the presence of Mr Ashok Pratap Singh, Ms Ambika Pant and Mr Parminer Singh, Members, Board of Trustee, Modern Schools and our Principal Dr Vijay Datta.
An energizing equestrian display by the students set the tone for the great morning ahead. The Chief Guest took the salute of the impressing March Parst being displayed by the students of classes S4 and S6, marching in their respective houses to the tune of the Uttaranchal song – ‘Bedupako’ played by the school band. Mr. Vijender Singh declared the Annual Sports Meet 2018-19 open and the skies were filled with colourful balloons flying high up, inspiring the students to fly as high with their hard work and achievements. Meanwhile, the sports achievers of Modern School ran with the torch, the torch symbolises harmony and goodwill. 7 International Players, 35 National Position Holders and 101 National Participants, who brought laurels to the school during the year, were honoured with Special School Color, Medals and Certificates by the Chief Guest.
The students of the middle school displayed a number of drills. The students of S1 performed various asanas while the comperes explained the benefit of each asana to the audience. The students of S2 presented the refreshing and vivacious “Zumba” while those of S3 showcased a series of powerful moves of the martial art, Taekwondo.
The event also saw the athletes participating in various events like the 100 mtrs and 4 x 100 mtrs relay race for S1, Sub Jr and Senior Boys and Girls categories. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. The races for the mothers and fathers of the students also witnessed great enthusiastic participation by the parents.
