Modern School Celebrates 69th Independence Day 2016 With Enthusiasm and Spirit
The school bustled with excitement. The horses were there…The auditorium was decked up with flowers and songs celebrating our freedom filled it as the students filed into the Shankar Lal Hall for the Independence Day Celebrations, commemmorating 69 years of our independence. The Chief Guest of the day, Mr Alok Verma, Police Commissioner of Delhi reached the venue in his cavalcade, escorted by the Principal Dr Vijay Dutta and President, Board of Trustees, Modern Schools, Mr Ashok Pratap Singh. The school band displayed its prowess as they welcomed the dignitaries.
After the flag hoisting ceremony, the students put up a wonderful dance-drama ‘Roopak’ titled “Speed Breaker”, which through satire portrayed the cavalier attitude of the Indians towards the country and exhorted them to get over those ‘speed breakers’ and make the ride for India smooth towards a better future. The occasion was graced by the presence of various honourable members of the School Management and the parents.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Verma implored the 3000 students of the school to focus on building a strong character as the basis of their lives. He emphasized on the importance of discipline in all walks of life and especially in school.
Dr Vijay Datta, Principal, in his address, spoke of the importance of responsibility in a life of an individual. He said that responsibility and rights rae the two sides of a coin and they go hand in hand for a successful life. He emphasized that the purpose of freedom will be rightly fulfilled if in this age of globalization, the students are alert and vigilant citizens. He said that the children of today are the global ambassadors who should be physically fit, academically sound, mentally alert, socially responsible and religiously positive in their outlook and constructive in their approach.
In his vote of thanks, Mr Ashok Pratap Singh stated that everything can be achieved by a person with devotion, discipline and perseverance. He added that effective leadership is putting first things first and effective management is discipline. He thanked Mr Alok Verma for taking time out to be with the students and sharing his ideas with all. The celebrations ended with songs of freedom echoing in the hearts of one and all as the auditorium resonated with the mellifluous voices of the members of the school choir.
