Report on Modern School Barakhamba Road Band Performance at the National War Memorial
Date: 22 November 2025

On the solemn occasion of NCC Day, the Bagpipe Band of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, delivered a stirring and heart-felt performance at the National War Memorial, New Delhi. The cadets stood proud beside the eternal flames, paying tribute to India’s brave martyrs with music that rose in honour of sacrifice, unity, and national pride.

The chief guests for the event were the Defence Secretary of India, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, and the Director General of NCC, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats. Their presence added gravitas and dignity to the commemoration, underscoring the institutional importance of the occasion.

Led by ANO Nitish Singh Chandela, the band included the following cadets: Lavyansh Taank (S3G), Hussain Ahmed (S3I), Shehzan Siddiqui (S3I), Animesh Das (S3G), Parikshit Bhagat (S3A), Aarav Choudhary (S3D), Vivaan Dhawan (S4B), Avviral Gupta (S4B), Uday Goyal (S4G), Reyansh Tiwari (S4G), Jayash Kayat (S4D), Divyansh Sharma (S4D), Vihaan Malik (S4C), Tanmay Dewan (S4C), Laksh Goyal (S4D), Kiaan Kohli (S4F), Shiven Ichpilani (S4F), and Nishchey Choudhary (S6H).

With poise, discipline, and musical finesse, the band performed patriotic classics — most notably “Saare Jahan Se Accha” and “Vande Mataram” — weaving them with other melodious bagpipe tunes. The haunting sound of the pipes, accompanied by percussion and marching cadence, filled the air with an aura of reverence and national strength.

Their performance did more than entertain — it honoured the memory of our soldiers, reminding all present of the sacrifices made for freedom. The cadets’ dedication and synchrony stood as a testament to the training, discipline, and spirit cultivated by Modern School, reinforcing the ethos of service, unity, and pride.

This musical tribute, framed by the presence of senior defence leadership, made NCC Day 2025 truly memorable — a day when youth, duty, and patriotism came together in a harmonious salute to the nation.

IPSC Aquatic Under 19 Girls Championship

All India IPSC Aquatic Under 19 Girls Championship was held at The Mann School, Delhi from 27th-30th September 2025. Overall Modern School won a total of 18 medals – 9 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze medals.

Sara Sharma-S4H: 3 Gold, 2 Silver Medals,

Bizonomics

Modern School Vasant Vihar organised the Inter-School Economics fest on 30th October 2025 hosting various reputed schools across Delhi. Students of BIZONOMICS SOCIETY of our school displayed exemplary performance and won the following prizes: Zara Javed S7I secured the First Position in Symposium for her
presentation on the Rise of the Global South.Krishna Puri S7G, Shiva Puri S7G, Tarini Tandon S7G and Amaara Ahuja S7G secured the First Position in Ad-Dicted for conceptualising and enacting a creative advertisement.

A recent pass out, Pratika Rawal is part of ODI World Cup -winning Indian women’s cricket team ! A proud moment for all Modernites.

Rhea Agarwal student of class S7-H has set two World Records. It has been acknowledged by World Wide Book of Records and India Book of Records.

Anekha Thakur and Simu Das have been selected to represent India in the Blind Girls World Cup Cricket Tournament to be held in India from 9th November to 13th November 2025 and in Sri Lanka from 15th to 25 th November 2025.
Both the Girls are very hard working, sincere and regularly practice at Modern School on the weekends.

Asian Yogasana Sports Championship 2025

Manya Khanna S6-A selected by National Yogasana Sports Federation (NYSF) to represent Indian Team in 6th Asian Yogasana Sports Championship at UAE from 8th to 11th August 20-25. She Won Gold Medal in Artistic Pair.

Emerald Heights Knowledge Convergence Arc – 2024-25

Modern School, Barakhamba Road, participated in the Annual Emerald Heights Knowledge Convergence Arc (EHKCA) organized by The Emerald Heights International School, Indore  for Round Square Schools,  from January 31 to February 2, 2025.

We participated in all 5 events: Empathy (Multi Formal Debate), Enunciate (Creative Writing), Elucidate (Trialogue), Enquire (Quiz) and Evolve (Theatre and Art). Modern School was awarded the ‘Overall Best Delegation of EHKCA’2024-25’. Modern School also won the following awards:

St. Ignatius School, Sydney, Australia, visited Modern School and played a Friendly Cricket match on 13th January 2024. Modern School dominated their match against St. Ignatius School, Sydney, Australia, with a convincing 151-run victory.

1. ALL INDIA IPSC EQUESTRIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

Equestrian Team of Modern School, Barakhamba Road performed outstandingly at the All India IPSC Equestrian Championship, 2023 organised by Mayo College, Ajmer, Rajasthan from 2nd February-5th February 2023. Riders displayed their horsemanship in the highly skilled disciplines such as jumping, dressage and hacks. The intensive training at the Modern School, Equestrian Club and the constant encouragement from, our Principal, Dr Vijay Datta inspired the students to do their best. Anmol Lehal S5 F, Amartya Aggarwal S4E, Agastya Aggarwal S4 H and Divyana Aggarwal P4D and together bagged 12 medals .

  • 3 silver medals
  • 3 Bronze medals.

Result details:-

Anmol Lehal, Amartya Aggarwal, Agastya Aggarwal and Divyana Aggarwal started their Equestrian training at Modern School Equestrian Club from a veryyoung age and honed their riding skills at the Modern School  Riding Arena. It’s a given fact that the younger you start on a certain skill or a dream that you have, the more experience you are likely to gain- That’s just the way it works.

3. Ayush Badoni (Batch of 2018), Hritik Shokeen( Batch 2019) and Karan Sharma (Batch of 2016) have been selected to play the IPL 2022. We are extremely proud of their achievements. May they constantly thrive and bring more laurels to the school.

4. A graduate from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Avanti Nagrath ( Batch of 2020) became the first ever Indian Model to open a Versace Show, at her debut at Milan Fashion Week. She has also starred in campaighs for designers like Ritu Kumar, Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi. We are proud of her achievements and wish her success.

5. Equestrian Team of Modern School  shines at APRC,  in yet another equestrian season 2022.

Modern School riders, Dev Harish Kapur (S2-B), Aarna Mittal (S3-E), Janya Verma (S3E), Agastya Aggarwal (S4-H), Amartya Aggarwal (S4-E) and Anmol Lehal (S5-F) participated in the highly skilled disciplines such as jumping, dressage, and hacks, where a lot of exceptional horses and riders of all ages competed and displayed their horsemanship spirits.

In their respective contests held at APRC Dhaula Kuan, all the riders displayed tremendous wit and talent. The result achievements of our star performers  from 2nd April to 10th April.

The Polaroid Film and Photography Festival 2020: an online photography and film making competition, was organized by Tagore International School. The main aim of the competition was to encourage and celebrate the young filmmakers and budding photographers and to invigorate them to step out of their comfort zones and experiment with their skills.
Madhav Goel (S7E) secured the third position in photography digital champion contest.
Sanya Tawakley (S7I) and her team secured the following positions in the short film competition:

It is heartening to note, that two enteries from Modern School, Barakhamba Road won ‘Certificates of Commendation’ in the inter-school ‘No Instruments Challenge,’ conducted virtually by Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior. The names of the participating students who won the accolade are: Anoushka Francis, Anvi Arora, Sambhav Baxi, Kuhu Sood, Anushka Dey, Richa Jaipuriar, Krishna Mittal, Meedhansh Jain, Saransh Menon, Arnav Gupta and Maria Javed.

The participants in the competition were required to create music and prepare a track using available resources apart from any musical instrument, this was to be accompanied by a vocalist(s).

Modern School is proud of the brilliant feat achieved by its students.

Sanya Tawakley, of Modern School, Barakhamba Road won the First Position in Senior Category (Classes 10-12) in an inter-school online still photography competition titled ‘Zooming Out COVID’ organised by Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun.

The competition aimed at offering aspiring, young photographers an opportunity to be creative while at home. Modern School is proud of this brilliant feat achieved by its student.
