Christmas Celebrations 2019
Modern School, Barakhamba Road
The morning of 24th December 2019, brought with it celebrations and gaiety in the front lawns of Modern School, Barakahamba Road, where the students of Middle Wing celebrated the Christmas with grandeur.
The celebrations commenced with the holy prayer and lighting of the candles in the manger by the Principal Dr Vijay Datta, Headmistress Ms Meera Malhotra and Head Co-curricular Ms Manpreet Kaur.
The students sang carols and songs such as ‘Joy to the World’, ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas, Deck the halls, Rudolf the red nose reindeer, Santa Claus is coming to town, enthralling everyone in the melodies of rapture and festive spirit.
The dancers enthused the atmosphere with ecstasy as they danced on mellifluous tunes of ‘Big time rush’, ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’, and ‘Last Christmas’
The Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, expressed his delight on seeing the enthusiasm in the children who brought the spirit of Christmas to life. He congratulated all the participants for putting up a great show and raising the bar up in organising the Christmas assembly.so meticulously
The Christmas Celebration culminated with the ‘cake-cutting ceremony’, and an official photograph with Middle School students and teachers.
The teachers who organised the celebrations Ms Shalini Dahiya, Ms Himani Bakshi, Mr Arindam Das Gupta and Mr Vikram Sharma were thanked and much appreciated.
Fashion Show 2018
The cuts and seams make up the consonants while the designs ring clear as the vowels of the language that fashion is.
And the Revival 2018 Fashion Show by J’adore of Modern School Barakhamba Road is but elegance personified.
The sensational show which combined the traditional with the contemporary was a fashionista’s saga of the dapper and the svelte, where the young minds presented their creative innovations designed specifically for the youth.
The runway was the epicenter of a sensuous display of emerging ideas, breathtaking and beautiful, that could be showcased on such a prestigious platform. The young designers draped their models with fabrics like brocade, net, crepe, silk and the outfits dazzled with embroidery like chikankari, shisha and zardozi to create stunning designs that were not just pleasing to the eyes but resonated with the souls.The models moved with a grace born from self assurance and poise, dressed in the decadent creations of the designer, each making a bold statement with the innermost thoughts of the designers on display. The team of designers had poured their blood, sweat and tears into bringing their vision to life with dedication and drive and it was only made possible under the guidance of our in-house Mrs Hema Bajaj, Head of the Fashion Department of Modern School, Barakhamba Road.

PTA Awards 2018
The ethos of Modern School have always inspired students to strive for excellence. The PTA Awards are held every year to reward achievement in academics and sports. The students are lauded not just for their achievements, but the discipline and effort it takes to get there.
This year, the PTA awards for academic and sports achievements were held on the 17th and 20th July 2018 for the batch of 2017-18. The first day saw the students of S5 to S7 being recognized for their achievements, and on the second day the students of S1 to S4 were felicitated.
Dr Deepak Vohra, an Indian Ambassador was the Chief Guest for the Senior PTA Award function.Lt Gen Aditya Singh, was the Chief Guest for the Junior PTA Award function. Principal Dr Vijay Datta, also set the tone for the awards with his insights and learnings.

Modern School Celebrates Independence Day 2018
Modern School Barakhamba Road celebrated the 72nd Independence Day of the nation with much enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The Chief Guest of the day was the serving Chief of the Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat. The programme was attended by the members of the Board of Trustees and the parents.
The students presented the ballet Naya Daur, Nayi Kahani with the choir providing a perfect symphonic presentation. The ballet spoke of the obsession with mobiles and apathetic attitude of the modern generation.The Principal Dr Vijay Datta welcomed the Chief Guest and his wife Ms Madhulika Rawat and spoke of how the celebrations have changed through the years.
The Chief Guest General Bipin Rawat in his address exhorted the students not to be scared of failures and take them as challenges.
The programme concluded with the presentation of the memento to the Chief Guest and a vote of thanks.

Teacher’s Day 2018
Modern School, Barakhamba Road, celebrated Teacher’s Day with zeal and zest on September 5, 2018. There was a euphoric excitement in the school atmosphere, which was quite contagious. A special morning assembly was held, in which the students honoured their teachers through speeches, songs and dance numbers. A homage was accorded to Lala Raghubir Singh, founder Modern School, who was also born on 5th September. The teachers also presented some exemplary performances.
The Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, addressing the entire school, congratulated the teachers and lauded the performances of one and all. There was a special celebration for teachers which included ‘Lucky Dip’ with many prizes, followed by a grand lunch.
The Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, appreciated the sincerest efforts of the teachers in playing a catalytic role in the holistic development of every student.

Modern Barakhamba Celebrates 98th Founder’s Day
Modern School Barakhamba Road celebrated its 98th Founder’s Day. Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Defence was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was graced with the presence of Ms Ketaki Sood, President, Board of Trustees, Modern School, Col Vijay Chadda, Chairman, School Managing Committee and other members of Board of Trustees, PTA and MSOSA members. Mrs Sitharaman was received by the Principal Dr Vijay Datta and led down the main lawns where the trophies won by the students through the year were displayed.
She was a given a Guard of Honour by the students before she inaugurated the ‘My Space’ exhibition displaying the creative talent of the children of the school. The meritorious students were given away the awards by the honourable minister. The gathering was addressed by Mrs Sitharaman in which she appreciated the wonderful blend of modern education and Indian ethos of the school.
The Principal Dr Vijay Datta welcomed the Chief Guest and read out the report of the school highlighting the achievements of the school and the students.
The programme saw performances by the school band, choir and the orchestra. The limelight of the show was the ballet ‘Footprjnts on the Sands of Time’ tracing the history of glorious India which was much appreciated by the Minister and members of the audience. The evening ended with the National Anthem and a Vote of Thanks.

Modern School Students Interacting With Mr Bhishan Singh Bedi
The Cricket Teams (Boys and Girls) of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, had an interaction with former Indian Test Cricket Captain, Mr Bishan Singh Bedi, along with the Principal, Dr Vijay Datta.
Mr Bishan Singh Bedi, shared his experiences on the cricket field with the young cricketers. He also gave some great tips and taught techniques on spin bowling.
He motivated the cricketers to accomplish a self-disciplinary approach and practice on the field daily.
Meeting a legendary cricketer of a renowned stature as Mr Bishan Singh Bedi, was a memorable experience for everyone.
The young talent shared plethora of ideas with Mr Bedi, who in turn applauded everyone for their constant hard work and determination.

Modern School Celebrates 70th Independence Day 2017 With Enthusiasm and Spirit
Modern School, Barakhamba Road celebrated the Independence Day on 11th August 2017, in Sir Shankar Lal Hall. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Admiral Sunil Lanba — PVSM, AVSM, ADC, the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, and the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee.
A rousing rendition of Medha Suktam was soon followed by a portrayal of lives and times of our revolutionaries — Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The high note of the day’s proceedings was struck by the ballet Roopak — a collection of six soul-stirring dances, centred around the theme of India’s brave soldiers who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their nation.
Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, enlightened the gathering with a refreshing and sagacious message about the true meaning of Independence. The esteemed Chief Guest also shared a portion of his considerable wisdom.
The function was officially concluded with the flag hoisting ceremony, where the Chief Guest — Admiral Sunil Lanba — along with our Principal — Dr Vijay Datta — unfurled our nation’s greatest symbol of pride, the Tricolour, into a shower of rose petals.

The excitement at Modern School was palpable on the beautiful balmy winter morning of 22nd February, 2018. The excitement of students and staff was at the pinnacle. The day was going down to be permanently etched in the golden history of Modern School.
The occasion was special! The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Pierre James Trudeau, along with his children- Ella Grace, Xavier and Hadrien and a delegation of ministers was visiting Modern School to witness the Boys’ Team Vs Girls’ Team Cricket Match of the students.
The esteemed guests on the occasion included, Mr Ashok Pratap Singh, President Board of Trustees, Modern Schools, Ms Ambika Pant, Secretary, Board of Trustees, Principal Dr Vijay Datta, Members of the Board of Trustees and legendary cricketers Mr Kapil Dev and Mr Azharuddin.
The ground was an amazing spectacle of a sea of Indo-Canadian flags being waved by the students. The Prime Minister, especially reciprocated the zeal exhibited by students with a walk down the barricades by personally greeting the students and the staff.
PM Trudeau, was highly appreciative of the organised event. After his departure, Mr Kapil Dev and Mr Azharuddin played a match with the Principal, staff and the students. They also shared some insightful tips and trivia about the game.
The inspiring words by the stalwart cricketers truly motivated one and all. It was truly a day to remember.

Modmun 2016 Inaugurated by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Information and Technology and Law and Justice
Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, honourable Union Minister of Information and Technology and Law and Justice inaugurated the 6th edition of Modern School Barakhamba’s MODMUN 2016 on the morning of 8th October. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Indian technology plus Indian Youth equals to India of tomorrow. He talked about how technology has been liberated for a better governance. In his address, he talked of how India is home to more than 1.03 million mobile phones, 400 million internet connections. He reiterated that digital governance means good, open and transparent governance. He also spoke about the need of sustainable development and said that there is a need to strike a balance between need and greed. He also exhorted the students to talk about and discuss the issue of global terrorism on their forum as there was an urgent need for UN to play its role in ending global terrorism. He said that the countries of the world need to join hands to combat terrorism effectively. He urged the young generation to become champions of India’s cause on the global map.
He mentioned his presence on the occasion as the Chief Guest on his Facebook account .
